What we value shapes how we live and who we become

What would it look like for a church not simply to have a mission and values, but to actually become them? Every church can put words on a wall. The greater challenge is allowing those words to shape the way we live, serve, pray, give, love, and follow Jesus together. In this series, we will take a fresh look at who God is calling Unionville Alliance Church to be and how that calling should influence every part of our life as a church.

We will begin by rediscovering our mission and vision, remembering why we exist and the kind of Spirit-empowered community we believe God is forming among us. From there, we will explore the values that help us live that calling faithfully.

We will consider what it means to build our lives on the truth of Scripture and allow God’s Word to shape our character and decisions. We will ask what changes when we truly depend on the Holy Spirit rather than our own strength. We will be challenged to become people marked by generous compassion, freely giving ourselves for those who are vulnerable and hurting. We will rediscover our calling to live on mission wherever God places us, sharing the hope of Jesus through both our words and our lives. We will also return to the heart of prayer, not simply as  something we do, but as a way of living in continual dependence on God. And we will explore the kind of meaningful community Jesus calls us to build, where people are known, loved, challenged, encouraged, and formed into disciples who help others follow Him.

These are not merely seven sermons. They are a picture of the church we believe God is inviting us to become. Imagine what could happen if we lived these values together, not occasionally, but wholeheartedly. What might God do in us, through us, and beyond us if we said yes?

Mission & Vision

Sunday, October 11, 2026

What kind of church is God calling us to become, and what would happen if every one of us  embraced that calling together? At Unionville Alliance Church, we believe God has given us a clear mission: to lead people to know Jesus Christ and to follow Him passionately. Everything we do flows from that purpose. But our mission also points us toward a vision of the kind of  community we long to become: a Spirit-empowered community who loves deeply, prays continually, and lives Biblically, to faithfully touch our world through Jesus, one life at a time. This is more than a statement on a page. It is a picture of who we believe God is shaping us to  be. In this message, we will explore why our mission and vision matter, how they shape the life of our church, and the part each of us has to play in seeing this fulfilled. What might God do  through us if we truly lived this out together?

Biblical Faithfulness

Sunday, October 18, 2026

Every day, voices compete to shape what we believe, how we think, and the way we live. In a  changing world, where do we find a foundation strong enough to build a life on? We shape our  lives around God’s Living Word in order to know and love Him. We read, study, and obey  Scripture together so it can transform our character, guide our decisions, nourish our lives, and strengthen our faith. We commit to Spirit-filled application of the Scriptures regardless of the cost. Biblical faithfulness is more than knowing what the Bible says. It is allowing God’s Word to search us, correct us, form us, and lead us into obedience. Together, we will explore what it  means to become a people whose convictions and choices are shaped by Scripture, not simply  by culture or convenience, and why faithfully living God’s Word may be one of the most powerful witnesses we can offer our world.

Spirit Dependance

Sunday, October 25, 2026

What would change if we stopped trying to live the Christian life in our own strength? Jesus  never intended His followers to rely on talent, personality, experience, or effort alone. We invite the Holy Spirit to transform every area of our lives, acknowledging our deep dependence on His presence, leading, and empowerment. We pray with expectation and use the gifts He gives to build His church, advance His mission, and reach the nations. As we walk closely with the Spirit, He produces the fruit of the Spirit in us. Spirit dependence means learning to listen, surrender, obey, and expect God to do what only God can do. It is not about chasing an experience, but living every day aware of His presence and responsive to His voice. What might God do in us and through us if dependence on the Holy Spirit became more than something we believe and became the way we actually live?

Generous Compassion

Sunday, November 1, 2026

What if generosity is measured not by how much we have, but by how freely we give ourselves away? The compassion of Jesus always moved Him toward people, especially those who were overlooked, hurting, vulnerable, or in need. Motivated by God’s love and generosity, we sacrificially give of our time, attention, skills, and resources to care for the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized. We uphold the dignity and value of all people as we show compassion, give practical assistance, and bring hope to the hurting. Generous compassion is not simply a ministry of the church. It is meant to become a way of life for the people of God. Let’s consider what it  means to see people the way Jesus sees them and to respond with open hands and open hearts. Who might experience the love of Christ because we were willing to notice, to stop, and to give?

Missional Living

Sunday, November 8, 2026

What if the places you already live, work, study, shop, and spend time are the very places Jesus is sending you? Mission is not reserved for a few people who travel somewhere far away. Jesus is the hope for our broken world. Therefore, we live out His love wherever we are and wherever He  sends us. We intentionally build relationships, proclaim the gospel, and fulfill the mission of God  both locally and globally through words and actions. We desire to see people transformed and empowered by the Spirit to be disciple-making disciples. Missional living means recognizing that  every follower of Jesus has been sent with good news. It changes the way we see our neighbourhoods, workplaces, friendships, and opportunities. What could happen if we began  each day asking, “Jesus, where are You already at work, and how can I join You?” Your ordinary life may be the setting for an extraordinary work of God!

Prayer

Sunday, November 15, 2026

What if prayer were not something that supported the ministry of the church, but was itself the main ministry of the church? As people of prayer, we commit to knowing God by praying boldly with faith, listening for and obeying His voice, and growing in intimacy with Jesus both personally and corporately. As a house of prayer for all nations, prayer is at the heart of everything we do. Prayer is not a means to an end, but the main ministry that we do. Prayer is where dependence  becomes real, where our hearts are aligned with God’s heart, and where we learn to trust Him with what we cannot control. It is both conversation and surrender, asking and listening, faith and obedience. Let’s explore the kind of prayer life God desires to awaken among us and what could  happen if prayer truly became the heartbeat of our church.

Meaningful Community

Sunday, November 22, 2026

What if some of the deepest work Jesus wants to do in your life can only happen in relationship with other people? We were never meant to follow Christ alone. We desire to be disciples, grow as disciples, and make disciples to build up the body of Christ. We strive to be a community that cares, challenges and encourages each other through authentic relationships. We love one another the way Jesus loves us by embracing all people, pursuing unity, and building a community marked by transparency, humility, and grace. Meaningful community goes far beyond being friendly on Sunday morning. It requires being known, making room for others, speaking  truth with love, carrying burdens, extending grace, and walking together through every season of  life. In a culture marked by isolation and division, what would it look like for the church to  become a family where people truly belong and are transformed through Christ-centered  relationships?
